Bank of India Staff Union, Madras (Now Chennai), formed on 25th July, 1951, celebrating culmination of its Platinum Jubilee Year in July 2026, is the mother unit of entire Southern States. At the time of its formation, it comprised the present Tamilnadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka state units. BOISU Chennai was formed under the leadership of Com D Natarajan, Com N Sampath along with other leaders. Considering the expansion of branches and effective functioning of the union, Kerala Unit was formed separately under the leadership of Com KJ Joseph & Com K Gopal; Karnataka Unit under the leadership of Com L Ragavendra Rao & Com S B Surendra and Andhra Pradesh Unit under the leadership of Com GGK Murthy & Com Ganesh Iyer. BOISU Chennai remembers its stalwart leaders like Com N Sampath who was in the leadership in the unit until his last breath, Com KJ Joseph, Com GGK Murthy, Com Ragavendra Rao who were thickly associated with the unit. BOISU Chennai stands for Equity, Equality, Women Empowerment and Social Justice among Comrades and believes that "Union Is Strength" and "Unity Is Strength". BOISU Chennai is one of the contributing, vibrant and militant units of FOBOISU and Tamil Nadu Bank Employees' Federation.
